Dr. Ezzat Abdoun, "Dr. A" to his patients, earned his dental degree at Cairo University School of Dental Medicine in Cairo, Egypt. He came to the United States for an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency at the Dade County Dental Research Clinic in Miami. He then trained with the Advanced General Dentistry Group at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine.
He went on to complete the Implant Program at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine, directed by Dr. Dennis Tarnow. Much of Dr. Tarnow's research asks what happens to the bone and gum around an implant in the years after it goes in. That question is what decides how a case looks at year five. An implant crown shows at whatever height the gum sits, and the gum only stays where there is bone holding it up. Lose a millimeter of bone early and it reads later as a longer tooth with a dark line at the margin.
Dr. Abdoun holds Fellowship status with the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, one of the largest bodies in implant dentistry. He is also a Fellow of the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies. His training there covered aesthetic and reconstructive dentistry, full-mouth rehabilitation and occlusion. Occlusion is how the teeth meet when you bite. It sets where force lands on every crown and bridge in the mouth, which is why a rebuilt bite that ignores it chips and loosens.
His clinical focus is full-arch restorations (All-on-4 and All-on-X), single-tooth implants and smile design. He plans each case digitally and walks patients through it before anything starts.
